The team achieved workplace sustainability excellence within a fully operational building.

The fitout spanned nine floors within Perth’s iconic Brookfield Place Tower and featured several unique elements, including the relocation of an existing interconnecting stair between Levels 33 and 34. This complex task required carefully dismantling the stair from its original position and repositioning it 15 metres away into a newly created penetration, all while accounting for the slab’s load-bearing capacity and access floor requirements.

A standout feature on Level 45 was the breakout area, where 8,800kg of steel was used to construct two internal pergolas, emphasising the impressive ceiling height. These pergolas were built in approximately 144 sections, which were transported via the goods lifts from the ground floor to Level 45 and assembled on-site. The structure includes around 212 splice joints, each requiring a high architectural finish, as they remain visible when viewed from below.

Beyond its structural complexities, the project also presented challenges in managing an extensive colour palette. A total of 37 different paint colours, 6 acoustic panel colours, and 4,194 pieces of furniture were used, requiring the creation of detailed cheat sheets and markup guides to ensure the architects’ vision was executed accurately.

Aligned with our clients commitment to creating a dynamic and adaptable workplace, the fitout extended beyond a standard office layout of meeting rooms, desks, and kitchens. The space incorporated Wellness Rooms, Contemplation Rooms, Co-Lab spaces, Games Rooms, a Library, Lounge Areas, a Test Room, and a Luggage Store.

The space will also showcase Indigenous artwork by Sharyn Egan, Yondee Shane Hansen, Christopher Pease, and Harley Richards.

Completing the fitout within an operational tower required careful coordination to minimise disruption to daily building operations and public spaces. Strict noise restrictions were enforced to avoid disturbing tenants, while materials and equipment were transported via goods lifts during designated hours to ensure seamless logistics. Careful planning minimised disruption to both the working environment and the surrounding community.

In addition to its innovative design, the project is targeting a 6-Star Green Star rating, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability. Achieving this rating required rigorous administration and meticulous tracking of materials throughout the entire fitout.
