DLG SHAPE was engaged by the Department of Defence under the Estate Works Program to deliver the refurbishment of the Headquarters Building at RAAF Base Darwin. The project forms part of a broader programme of medium works investment across the Darwin base, one of Australia’s most strategically significant forward-operating air bases and a key node in the Australian Defence Force’s northern network.
The works addressed condition, compliance and functionality issues throughout the building. Scope included internal refurbishment of office, meeting and support areas, along with upgrades to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services, fire services, and architectural finishes.
Built by DLG SHAPE with SHAPE Australia as delivery partner, the project was delivered within an active and secure base environment with strict access control and sequencing requirements. As delivery partner, SHAPE supported delivery through coordination and project delivery expertise to help meet the operational and security needs of the live Defence site.
