Supporting operational reliability at a critical Defence radar sensor site

The AIR5431 minor works project involves construction and infrastructure upgrades at the Nowra Hill radar sensor site near HMAS Albatross in Nowra, New South Wales. The Department of Defence is the client, with Aurecon acting as client project manager. The works form part of the broader AIR5431 air traffic management and control capability upgrade program, which is supporting improved safety and operational efficiency across multiple Australian Defence Force locations.

DLG SHAPE is delivering the build under a lump sum model, with works focused on maintaining and improving the physical infrastructure that supports the radar installation and its associated systems. The scope includes building fabric refurbishment and maintenance works, upgrades to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services, and civil and external works within the sensor site precinct.

As delivery partner, SHAPE is supporting delivery in a live, remote and security-restricted Defence environment where reliability, access and continuity are critical. Working alongside DLG SHAPE, we are helping coordinate delivery requirements to align with Department of Defence operational priorities and programme needs, supporting the ongoing reliability of this important sensor site and the broader modernisation of Navy air traffic management infrastructure.
