MG Group engaged SHAPE to spearhead the expansion of the Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club, aiming to elevate its amenities and functionality. The project entailed demolishing a section of the existing structure and erecting a new deck increasing the venue capacity.
The rebuild encompassed a range of elements, from civil works to structural enhancements, including concrete footings, screw piles, and roofing. The new facilities are designed to cater to diverse needs, featuring a spacious commercial kitchen, and an inviting café with a servery upstairs, and flexible function rooms equipped with operable walls. Additionally, there’s a vibrant public café and member canteen downstairs, accompanied by an outdoor barbecue area to enhance the community experience.
The ground floor boasts an array of amenities, including a fully-equipped gymnasium, staff rooms, bathrooms, and member areas, all seamlessly integrated into the design. To facilitate operations, a loading dock was installed along with a lift for accessibility.
While challenges such as incomplete design elements and limited laydown areas for materials existed, SHAPE navigated them with proactive planning and efficient coordination. Emphasising continuity of services and minimising disruptions in a live environment, the project progressed smoothly, showcasing SHAPE’s proficiency in managing complex new build projects.
