SHAPE was engaged by Queensland Fertility Group to deliver a comprehensive fitout for a new IVF Hospital facility spanning two levels (Levels 8 & 9) in a purpose-built medical building at 525 Boundary Street, developed by Silverstone Developments. The 2,500sqm project featured 450sqm of IVF lab space, three operating theatres with dedicated scrub areas, CSSD rooms, and specialised plant rooms.
The fitout included essential services, such as two dedicated plant rooms on the upper floor. One plant room housed four Air Handling Units (AHUs) supported by a structural mezzanine level, while the second was dedicated to the Chiller plant. These installations were critical to maintaining the stringent air quality and climate control required for the IVF labs and operating theatres.
A key innovation was the integration of an early works package during the new build stage, which allowed critical slab penetrations to be precast, reducing both costs and time during the fitout. Additionally, a fire-rated dumbwaiter was installed to link the lab spaces with the operating theatres, ensuring seamless and efficient sample transportation.
SHAPE provided crucial expertise in design coordination, value engineering, and managing a significant mid project design change requested by the client. This change was successfully implemented, future proofing the facility. The project was awarded two Environmental GreenFleet certificates, offsetting 12 tons of CO2.
Through exceptional collaboration and transparency, SHAPE delivered a state of the art, future-proofed facility that provides a professional and relaxed environment for patients.
