HappyCo is a software development company with humble beginnings as a South Australian startup in 2011. Following its incredible growth over the past decade, HappyCo’s focus shifted back home to create a new office space that reflected its values and identity.
The space is designed with the name in mind, an inviting, joyful space with comfortable and flexible working spaces to support their diverse team. The office spans two floors, with the ground floor space having an open entryway with a cafe-style breakout area, a training room and two outdoor breakout and courtyard spaces. The first floor features open workstations, collaboration spaces, quiet rooms and meeting rooms, a wellness room and a sensory exhibit room.
One of the key challenges for this project was ensuring that we could meet the client’s budget without reducing the scope or impacting the design intent, particularly as the space had a very distinct style which required careful consideration before proposing any material alternatives.
SHAPE had a long history with the design team which resulted in a very collaborative value management stage where the project team could openly discuss cost savings with a best-for project goal.
The client was thrilled with the result as the space had captured their vision for their new head office, whilst also meeting their budget.
The team worked together collaboratively with trades, designers, clients and project managers to ensure a successful project. The team had a commitment to a high level finish which resulted in an excellent end product.
