From a premium cold shell transformation in Cairns to upgraded workspaces in Townsville and Toowoomba, all sites achieved SCEC Zone 2 compliance.

Following the successful delivery of office fitouts in NT and NSW, SHAPE’s associate DLG SHAPE was re-engaged by the Government Client to modernise three of its QLD offices located in Toowoomba, Townsville, and Cairns.

DLG SHAPE, a majority Aboriginal owned fitout and construction company founded by the David Liddiard Group and SHAPE, delivered the turnkey projects across the three regional sites concurrently, coordinating the relocation of employees to their new workspaces upon completion of the fitouts.

Delivered concurrently, the fitouts ranged from 200m² to 1,100m², each tailored to meet unique workplace needs. In Cairns, DLG SHAPE completed a cold shell transformation with premium finishes within a 10 week timeframe, including a boardroom with operable walls and custom joinery. Townsville’s 8 week program leveraged existing partitions and furniture while introducing new ceilings, flooring, and joinery,  and Toowoomba’s fitout included workstations, joinery and feature finishes, completed in just 6 weeks. Each site achieved SCEC Zone 2 compliance, integrating full-height partitions and mechanical security grilles.

Overcoming regional challenges, DLG SHAPE mitigated subcontractor shortages through early contractor engagement and reduced delays through proactive material procurement. DLG SHAPE employed innovative strategies to enhance interstate stakeholder communication and project execution. Weekly 3D virtual walkthroughs kept stakeholders informed without requiring travel, and BIM technology identified design clashes during planning, preventing costly reworks.
