Curtin University trusted SHAPE with the upgrade of their B314 Computer Lab, creating a new teaching space for students of Cybersecurity. The project consisted of the refurbishment of four main areas; Level 1 Lobby Area and Large Capacity Lab, and Level 2 Cyber Security Lab and General Purpose Lab.
The project scope included concrete cutting for new electrical floor boxes and pedestals, coordination of in ceiling services, IT/AV integration, installation of specialist lighting, acoustic wall and ceiling panels, and feature joinery throughout.
The main features of the project were the ceilings, joinery and lighting. The project team worked closely with subcontractors implementing innovative solutions where possible. With the detail of joinery to the ceiling, trade coordination between the joiners and partitioners was required. The joiners provided ceiling layout templates to the partitioners to build the frames to, ensuring accurate panel installation.
With the project being within a live environment and running during the university semester SHAPE’s project team maintained regular communication with all stakeholders and ensured adequate hoardings and signage were in place.
