The Level 9 fitout for the Bureau of Meteorology was a comprehensive project managed by SHAPE, involving minor demolition, new floor coverings, painting, and the installation of partitions, glazing, and various services. The project also included upgrades to the communications room and installing new electrical, mechanical, fire, and hydraulic systems.
SHAPE worked closely with subcontractors and the building manager to ensure public safety and manage the challenging building accessibility. To address inter-tenancy noise issues, SHAPE collaborated with the architect and engineers to mitigate construction noise, prioritizing the construction of full-height partition walls and temporary hoarding in the lobby.
Due to long lead times for key items like curved glass features and Mechanical CRAC Units, SHAPE provided temporary solutions, such as installing clear Perspex for the glass and fully functioning AC units until the specified CRAC units arrived. The client was passionate about creating a functional yet beautiful space, incorporating traditional artwork, curved glass, feature lighting, and indigenous room names on signage.
The SHAPE project team enjoyed working on this project, which held significant passion and attention to detail, ensuring a unique and meaningful design for the Bureau of Meteorology.
