Alexandra Primary School transforms with sustainable solutions and modern design integration

This project was completed under the Victorian Government Permanent Modular School Building Program in 2020, involving modular buildings to replace outdated, asbestos-containing buildings. At Alexandra Primary School, the SHAPE team (formerly KLMSA) removed asbestos from an existing building followed by demolition, and the upgrade of existing administration building to provide a vibrant entrance to the school.

The SHAPE team designed and constructed a 15-module, four-room learning complex that provided functional architectural design seamlessly integrating the old and new features of the 100-year-old school and provided upgraded areas for administration and learning.

Complimented by a contemporary colour scheme, two functional classrooms and a library with a breakout space were enhanced with floor-to-ceiling windows that allowed natural light to filter in the space with the bonus of a mountain view backdrop.

The SHAPE team also provided an external learning area, landscaping and reinstatement of the access road and pathways to the administration and learning centres.

The completed project has been embraced by Alexandra Primary School and the local community.
