Building future skills through purpose-built learning environments

St Paul’s College engaged SHAPE to deliver the Technologies Precinct Development, a key stage in the College’s Masterplan. The project centred on construction of a new two-storey Technologies Building that connects to the existing single-storey Trade Training Centre, alongside refurbishment of the existing facility and delivery of a new maintenance building.

Together, these works expand the College’s facilities to support hands-on learning across multiple technical disciplines. The project included three purpose-built workshop spaces for woodwork, metalwork, and machinery, two commercial-grade teaching kitchens for food and hospitality, and dedicated robotics and digital technologies classrooms . The works also saw the delivery of a new lift, a welcoming breakout lobby with integrated joinery and coffee facilities, and external works including paving, landscaping, and fencing to the main works compound.

Working within a live school environment required careful planning and staging to maintain safe day-to-day operations for staff and students. Throughout construction, SHAPE also worked closely with St Paul’s College to create opportunities for student engagement. As part of their curriculum, students participated in site walkthroughs and interviews with the project team, gaining first-hand insight into construction, trades, and emerging technologies while sharing the progress of the build with the wider College community.
