SHAPE was engaged with the refurbishment and fitout of a heritage building, originally constructed in 1910, as part of a larger base build extension project. After the base build phase, which added a new outdoor area, multiple basements, and a carpark, SHAPE focused on transforming both the heritage and newly constructed areas into a fully functional restaurant.
The fitout included the installation of a basement-level keg room, cold room, freezer room, cash room, along with a fully functional gaming lounge and bar area. A state of the art commercial kitchen and long bar were fitted with new stainless steel equipment and high-end joinery and stone. New indoor and outdoor dining spaces are designed with intricate tile work and custom banquette seating, and a Private Dining Room was created within the heritage building.
One of the challenges was working within the constraints of the heritage structure, which required the removal of an existing staircase and a stair infill. Additionally, SHAPE coordinated with client contractors for beer systems, AV/CCTV, and gaming installations, taking over from the base build contractor where defects were unresolved. This ongoing project requires careful management to preserve the building’s historical integrity while working toward delivering a high-quality, modern finish that aligns with the client’s expectations.
