The New Women’s and Children’s Hospital (nWCH) Managing Contractor Compound is a long-term temporary office complex designed to support the construction of the nWCH, the largest hospital development of its kind in the southern hemisphere. As the delivery partner, the SHAPE modular team was responsible for manufacturing the 44 modular units that make up the facility, which will house around 150 construction professionals from the head contractor and design consultant teams over the next 8-10 years.
The building features open office spaces, meeting rooms, private offices, a bike storage area, and end-of-trip facilities to promote sustainable commuting. Additionally, external breakout areas and covered walkways enhance comfort and accessibility. The design, split into four quadrants around a central covered walkway, efficiently maximises site use, and the modular solution helps minimize ground disturbances
