A first look inside the design of JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa has been unveiled, with the redevelopment on track to open in December. The $35 million rebrand of Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa marks the brand’s Australian debut and will strengthen Gold Coast tourism’s luxury profile upon completion.
Under an ECI Design and Construct agreement, SHAPE worked collaboratively with all stakeholders driving design to completion including receiving the required Marriott JW brand approvals while maintaining all upgrade works in line with the client’s budget.
Set in the stunning Queensland Gold Coast, the upgrade draws from the design features found in nature within the surrounding landscapes, hinterland and coastal areas. This upgrade will transform the 223 guestrooms through the introduction of lightly toned natural timbers and stone, fluted glass and soft curved forms to create a sophisticated beachside character. Additionally, guests will be able to enjoy an upgraded food and beverage experience including an all-day dining restaurant, Japanese whisky and teppanyaki bar and an indoor-outdoor cocktail lounge connected to the refreshed pool and iconic grotto area.
