Knight Frank engaged SHAPE for the refurbishment of Levels 6 and 8 at 104 Melbourne Street South Brisbane, building on the success of previous projects delivered together. The project involved transforming two existing warm shells into five premium spec suites.

The project focused on reusing existing materials, including ceilings, flooring, and loose furniture, to reduce waste and promote environmental responsibility. Design elements highlighted natural timber aesthetics, incorporated into acoustic material selections to create visually appealing and functional spaces. By adopting an aggressive design and cost-planning approach, the team accelerated the program, achieving early site commencement while maintaining budget integrity.

Level 8’s ceiling, located directly below the roof, presented challenges in fixing full-height walls and achieving acoustic performance. The team utilised 3D modelling to resolve gaps in the proprietary timber batten system, ensuring a seamless finish. Strict noise restrictions for Level 7 occupants were effectively managed through careful scheduling and communication, minimising disruption.
