A landmark project for Canberra’s skating community

The SHAPE team was tasked with constructing a competition-grade half-pipe at the skatepark along Emu Bank in Belconnen. Standing at 7 meters tall, the half-pipe caters to skateboarding, freestyle BMX, and scootering for both amateur and professional competitions.

Key aspects of the project included extensive civil works to address foundational challenges posed by existing stormwater drains. The landscaping plan involved planting 6 trees and 200 plants to improve the surrounding area. Additional lighting was installed for nighttime use and competitions. The half-pipe structure was built to meet competition standards, ensuring durability and high performance.

Further enhancing the facility, two murals were added, and traffic management strategies were implemented during construction to ensure public safety. The completed project stands as a state-of-the-art facility ready for future events.
