Back to back wins at the Master Builders Queensland 2025 Gold Coast Housing & Construction Awards

SHAPE is proud to have received two major honours at the Master Builders Queensland 2025 Gold Coast Housing & Construction Awards, held at The Star Gold Coast on Friday, 22 August. The team was awarded Commercial Fitout from $5 million up to $10 million for the Gold Coast Airport Existing Terminal Retail and Operational Optimisation (Bilinga), and Commercial Refurbishment/Renovation from $5 million up to $15 million for the Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club Refurbishment (Palm Beach).

The redevelopment of Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club expanded the venue across two levels, introducing multiple new dining and function spaces, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen to support high-volume service, a modern gym, and upgraded amenities. Delivered within a live hospitality environment, the project carefully balanced construction activity with the needs of club members and the community, minimising disruption while maintaining critical services.

The result is a significantly enhanced venue with greater operational capacity, new lifestyle and social spaces, and improved long-term commercial potential.

At Gold Coast Airport, SHAPE was recognised for its role in the Existing Terminal Retail and Operational Optimisation project. The works focused on transforming the Departures Lounge, introducing new retail outlets, refreshed dining options, and improved passenger amenities. Accessibility upgrades, including a Changing Places facility, enhanced wayfinding, and modern Flight Information Displays, further elevated the passenger experience.

Delivered in a live airport environment, the project required careful coordination to ensure safety and operational continuity. The upgrades have created a contemporary, passenger-focused terminal designed to accommodate future growth and improve the overall travel experience.

Reflecting on the achievement, David Woods, General Manager – QLD at SHAPE, said: “We are honoured to be recognised for these two projects, which were only possible through strong partnerships and the dedication of our teams. At both Tallebudgera Surf Club and Gold Coast Airport, we worked closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver spaces that are functional, future-focused, and community-driven. These awards are a testament to what can be achieved when collaboration is at the heart of delivery.”
