SHAPE’s Townsville Team Wins Two Major Awards at 2026 MBA QLD North Queensland Awards
SHAPE’s Townsville team recognised with two major industry awards at the 2026 MBA QLD North Queensland Housing & Construction Awards
A workplace supporting the delivery of essential government services across North Queensland has earned SHAPE two awards at the 2026 Master Builders Queensland North Queensland Housing & Construction Awards.
The Undisclosed Federal Government Agency Fitout Townsville won Commercial Fitout from $5 million up to $10 million and the BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award, one of the event’s three Major Awards, at the ceremony on Friday, 7 August.
The 1,742 sqm project transformed an occupied facility into a modern and functional workplace comprising 129 workstations, breakout spaces, communications rooms and custom joinery. Specialist acoustic, security and building services requirements were carefully integrated to create a secure and welcoming environment.
Delivered while the facility remained fully operational, the project required disciplined sequencing and close coordination to maintain staff operations and essential service delivery. Live communications rooms on Level 5 and the Ground Floor remained operational throughout construction, while noisy works were scheduled outside business hours to minimise disruption.
The project supports services reaching more than 9,000 participants across Townsville, Charters Towers, Palm Island, Hinchinbrook, Burdekin, Mount Isa and surrounding regional and remote communities.
Local participation was also central to the delivery, with more than 90 per cent of subcontractors based in the region. Early engagement with stakeholders and local delivery partners helped streamline approvals, manage procurement and maintain programme certainty.
