SHAPE was engaged to refurbish Hotel Alba on South Terrace, following our successful completion of the neighbouring HotelMOTEL project for the same client. This transformation spanned 5 floors and included a comprehensive upgrade to 99 guest rooms, complete with ensuites, along with improvements to the ground floor lobby and reception area. Each room was designed to provide a consistent, high-quality experience aligned with a 4-star offering.
The scope involved significant upgrades to building services to support the new room features, as well as asbestos and lead dust remediation and extensive repairs to the building’s parapets. Given the project’s short timeframe and complexity, our team worked closely with Studio Nine Architects and the client to create prototypes and provide input to assist with design detailing, ensuring the programme remained on track.
