Client: ACT Health
Designer: DJAS Architects
Delivery Model: D&C
Location: Canberra, ACT
Duration: 65 weeks
Project Size: 4,000 m2
To deliver 4,000 m2 of space, a programme was developed starting with the demolition of the existing building and its replacement with a two-storey modular construction. This project was completed under a design and construct methodology, with its success hinged on our national team’s experience, who developed a sleek design that was modularised, manufactured and installed by Ausco Modular. A total of 96 individual building modules were manufactured in Queensland and transported to Canberra over eight weeks.
The client’s key concern was constant communication, which takes into account the care of patients and implementing infection control measures. The construction and install process was completely seamless with zero work health, safety and environment (WHSE) incidents and little disruption to hospital operations. All modules were installed onsite, with the base building erected in under four months. SHAPE undertook the fitout, building commissioning and landscaping in the final five-month period.
