SHAPE was engaged to deliver a high-end fitout across 4500m2 within a newly constructed CLT building in the heart of Newcastle’s CBD. Designed to achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating, the space aligns with Ausgrid’s strategic vision for sustainability and innovation.
The project scope involved fitting out four tenancy floors to support Ausgrid’s diverse workforce including engineering, call centres, operations, and maintenance teams. The design encourages collaboration and face-to-face interaction, featuring bespoke meeting rooms, flexible training spaces, a 300sqm town hall area, and breakout kitchens on all floors.
Acoustic performance was a critical focus, with meeting and conference rooms achieving sound ratings between 45-55Rw. Services works included a supplementary mechanical system integrated with the base building, new electrical and hydraulic services, fibre infrastructure, and a bespoke custom lighting package.
Supporting up to 350 employees, the new workspace seamlessly integrates contemporary work practices with flexible meeting spaces, a multifunctional town hall, and breakout areas. High acoustic performance was a key focus, ensuring privacy and comfort across the workplace.
