SHAPE took home a win at the Master Builders Tasmania 2024 Awards for Excellence, for the Department of Health Hobart Fitout project. This is the first award for a SHAPE project in Tasmania, two of which received nominations in the highly anticipated competition.
The Awards for Excellence were held on Saturday, 31 August 2024, at the Silverdome, Launceston. Hosted by the Master Builders Association, the prestigious annual awards determine the best building projects in Tasmania, providing an opportunity for industry representatives and leaders to showcase quality craftsmanship in their respective categories.
The Department of Health Hobart Fitout project achieved the top spot for the Renovation/ Fit-out $1m – $5 million category. The new Department of Health Tasmania aims to consolidate administrative services that directly support the Royal Hobart Hospital into one building.
SHAPE was tasked with providing a 5-floor fitout of the new space, which involved the creation of multiple rooms to facilitate a flexible open work environment while maintaining spaces for meetings and quiet work. Delivered over four stages, the building process enabled stakeholders to continue operating while works were undertaken.
The finished result is a versatile layout, with multifunctional and high-spec features such as acoustic panelling for aesthetics and usability, a high-end AV system, and feature lighting throughout. The quiet rooms are acoustically rated, and the versatility of meeting and conference spaces ensures that stakeholders can complete various tasks with comfort and ease.
