SHAPE Perth supports Parkerville Children and Youth Care

In November 2022, the team at SHAPE Perth volunteered at Parkerville Children and Youth Care INC at Rosemary Cottage to support the vulnerable youth of Western Australia.

Parkerville Children and Youth Care, the first Child Safe accredited organisation in Western Australia, supports vulnerable children, young people and their families through specialist advocacy, therapeutic services, education, employment training, and out of home care.

SHAPE Perth spent the day participating in bush clearing and gardening activities with the students from the Education, Employment and Training (EET) Program.

The EET Program is an alternative education pathway for young people from 14 to 16 years who are at risk of failing school. It teaches them literacy, numeracy, social and life skills to help them achieve their potential. During the session the team also shared morning tea and lunch with the supervisors and students.

Jodie Priestly, Business Development Manager at SHAPE says, “A huge thank you to Parkerville for this opportunity to connect and give back to our Western Australia community. It was great to be able to share morning tea and lunch with the students and supervisors and learn their stories.”

The SHAPE team also organised to replace the basketball ring and backboard. They engaged SHAPE’s long-term partners Brown Brothers Furniture to build a new backboard and returned another day to mount it.

To further support Parkerville and their important work, the SHAPE Perth office raised $1k in donations.
