SHAPE Canberra raise $42,000 for Mates4Mates at Annual Charity Golf Day

SHAPE has raised $42,000 for Mates4Mates, an organisation which provides vital services to the veteran community, at its 2024 ACT Annual Charity Golf Day.

Held on Friday, 22 March at the Gold Creek Golf Course, the event was attended by more than 110 participating delivery partners and SHAPE staff. The aim of the event was to raise funds for Mates4Mates, who SHAPE recently announced as the Defence sector partner charity of choice.

Mates4Mates is one of Australia’s leading veteran charities actively changing the lives of current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members, and their families, impacted by service. The organisation provides pathways to recovery, such as physical rehabilitation and mental health services, skills and wellbeing programs, and social connection activities.

The day comprised of 18 holes, and the well-deserved winners were ROC Mechanical. The MC for the day was NRL player Bryan Fletcher, who also gave a speech about life as an NRL player. Following the golf, auctions and raffles were held with a Bryan Fletcher jersey and memorabilia piece amongst the prizes.

Mates4Mates Chief Executive Officer, Emma Whitehead shared the significance of vital donations from events such as the ACT Annual Charity Golf Day in supporting the veteran community.

“As Mates4Mates continues to meet the growing need for our services, it’s through the generosity of others that allows us to do this,” Emma said.

“Thank you to SHAPE, the golf day attendees and all the sponsors who were part of this wonderful event. This donation will help us to continue providing support services for veterans and families who are recovering and reconnecting.”

The aim of the event was to raise funds for Mates4Mates, who SHAPE recently announced as the Defence sector partner charity of choice.
