SHAPE celebrates double win at the 2025 Master Builders Association Newcastle Awards

On Friday 5 September 2025, SHAPE Newcastle was honoured at the Master Builders Association (MBA), Newcastle 2025 Building Excellence Awards taking home two awards for the Hall & Wilcox and Ausgrid HQN projects.

The Hall & Wilcox project won in the category of Interior and Shop Fit-outs $2 Million to $5 Million. The project transformed a warm shell into a modern and flexible office designed to support collaboration and innovation. Featuring open-plan work areas, secure meeting rooms and a large town hall space, the fitout created an A-Grade environment that reflects Hall & Wilcox’s vision for its Newcastle presence. Delivered through an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Design and Construct model, SHAPE partnered with Hall & Wilcox and consultants across every stage of the journey, from design and cost planning to authority approvals and landlord works, ensuring a seamless delivery and an exceptional outcome.

The Ausgrid HQN project, which won in the category of Interior and Shop Fit-outs Over $10 Million, involved 4,500m² of A Grade workplace within a newly constructed CLT building in Newcastle’s CBD. Designed to achieve a 6-Star Green Star rating, the workplace supports circa 350 employees across engineering, contact centres, operations and maintenance teams. The space features bespoke meeting rooms, flexible training spaces, breakout kitchens on each floor and a 300m² town hall, all underpinned by high acoustic performance and sustainable building services.

Reflecting on the wins, Linden Denholm, Regional Manager - Newcastle at SHAPE, said:
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and partners on both the Hall & Wilcox and Ausgrid HQN projects. From the outset, our focus was on collaboration and innovation to deliver workplaces that reflect our clients’ visions and support their future growth. We are proud to have played a role in creating standout workplaces for Newcastle and to see that effort acknowledged by the MBA.”
