Two years on from opening SHAPE’s second modular manufacturing facility, SHAPE is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Mordecai-Jones as General Manager of Modular by SHAPE SA.
Scott first joined SHAPE as Operations Manager over 20 months ago and now heads SHAPE’s growing multidisciplinary modular team in Adelaide, delivering full-service solutions across design, manufacturing, installation and fitout. With nearly two decades of experience in the construction industry, including 10 years leading modular operations and production, Scott brings a strong technical foundation and people-first leadership style to his new role.
Scott is focused on expanding SHAPE’s modular capabilities, improving production efficiency, and delivering smarter, more sustainable solutions. “I’m excited to be stepping into this role at such a pivotal time,” he said. “Modular is no longer just an alternative delivery method. It’s a smart, scalable and sustainable way of building that’s helping to reshape our industry. We’ve achieved a lot in a short amount of time, and I’m proud to lead a team that’s pushing the boundaries of what modular can do.”
Since launching the South Australian facility in 2023, Modular by SHAPE SA has delivered high-impact projects across healthcare, education and community sectors. Â The business has shown strong growth in FY25 having doubled its revenue and head count over the past two years.
A landmark project for our team has been the creation of a fully removable site village, purpose-built to support South Australia’s major infrastructure developments. The modular design delivers 156 workstations and a full suite of office, meeting, and amenity spaces. Advanced footing methodologies were developed to avoid ground disturbance, ensuring both cultural sensitivity and the ability to fully demobilise the site when required.
More recently, SHAPE has had the privilege of collaborating with Wilya Janta to deliver a design that has been deeply informed and co-created by the Franks family in Tennant Creek. An iterative and collaborative process ensures the design thoughtfully reflects the cultural frameworks embedded within their family systems whilst optimising thermal performance and construction costs. This deeply rewarding project aims to enhance health outcomes in remote outback communities while restoring a sense of belonging.
“We’ve built a high-performing team, developed a proven delivery model and shown that modular is a real game-changer for our clients,” said Cameron Aitken, Group Manager – Modular at SHAPE.
“With Scott now leading our South Australian team, we’ve got the right leadership in place to take the next step. His 10+ years’ experience in modular delivery, hands-on knowledge of production and installation, and ability to build strong client and supply chain relationships will be critical as we scale. He brings the operational focus and leadership needed to drive efficiency, maintain quality, and support our teams as we now explore opportunities to expand our modular footprint on the east and west coasts.”
