SHAPE takes home two wins at the NAWIC SA 2020 Awards

SHAPE is proud to have taken home two accolades and received one nomination at the NAWIC SA 2020 awards, which were presented digitally for the first time last Friday.

To receive a NAWIC SA award is a significant achievement, as they celebrate the accomplishments of women in construction and design-related industries. They also recognise companies and businesses that have created supportive, encouraging working environments so that all women can achieve their career goals.

Taking home the Graduate Of The Year 2020 award was our very own, Alexandra Nagy, a Project Coordinator from our Adelaide office. This win recognises the outstanding contribution she has made to the construction industry since graduation and is an exciting moment in her career.

In Alexandra’s statement of acceptance, she emphasised how SHAPE has supported her passion and career goals since she joined the team as a Building Cadet in 2019.

“I adore the construction industry, through hard work, application and SHAPE’s support, I have been able to establish myself in a way that allows me to pursue the things I am passionate about,” she says.

Kara Cursaro, a Project Manager also from our Adelaide office, received a nomination for the Emerging Leader Award. Although not taking home top prize that day, being recognised through a nomination is a huge achievement, she is definitely a winner in our eyes.

“I adore the construction industry, through hard work, application and SHAPE’s support, I have been able to establish myself in a way that allows me to pursue the things I am passionate about,”

SHAPE is also very proud to have received the SA Crystal Vision Award For Excellence (2020-2021). This award recognises an individual or individuals, business or organisation that is advancing and furthering the interests of women in the construction industry. As SHAPE aspires to be ‘The place where everyone wants to work’ we recognise that this is not possible without an environment where all people are treated with respect and have equal access to opportunities.

This award is a milestone achievement and is a true statement to SHAPE’s dedication towards increasing female participation and retention in the construction industry.

In addition to these awards, SHAPE had the privilege of sponsoring and judging the Contribution To Design Award 2020. This award was presented to Zoe King, of COX Architects, for her work on the redevelopment of Her Majesty’s Theatre.
