General Manager - David Wood

Career

David has more than 20 years of experience across all sectors of the construction industry. He joined SHAPE in 2010 as a Site Manager and has since held several positions, including Project Manager, Project Director, and Commercial Manager. David is passionate about building genuine stakeholder relationships and maintaining SHAPE’s renowned constructive culture across the Brisbane and Gold Coast branches. As General Manager of Queensland, he ensures successful project outcomes by motivating his teams to deliver unique and local solutions across all projects.

Life

As an avid gym-goer, David begins most days with a workout. He loves water sports, such as surfing and jet skiing, and in 2012, was stung by an Irukandji jellyfish while on vacation with his family.

Dan is a highly experienced construction professional with over 20 years’ experience in the industry, across a range of roles and disciplines, including design, project management, operations management and construction management. A highly capable leader, Daniel brings a wealth of knowledge to support SHAPE’s project teams in his role as Commercial Manager.

Life
Daniel is a proud father to two girls and a Groodle. He has a passion for all water sports and loves to keep fit in the pool and enjoys spending weekends and holidays with friends and family at the beach.

Career
Mathew is an experienced construction professional who has held senior management roles in well-recognised construction companies since 2004. He brings more than 30 years of diverse industry experience across the private and public sectors, including health, aged care, commercial, residential, education, emergency services, and community centres. Mathew also has extensive Design and Construction experience, from engaging consultants to running the design phase, construction through to completion, and client handover. His client focused approach has earnt him a long list of repeat clients.

Life
Mathew is a happily married father of three, who likes to stay healthy by hitting the gym and surfing at least three times a week. He loves traveling to surf destinations – and on one surf trip, him and his buddies got stuck in the Solomon Islands due to a cyclone.

Career
Phillip has over 30 years’ experience in the building industry and holds trade, construction, strategic leadership and WHS qualifications. He is responsible for all aspects of Environment, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ) and IT, championing SHAPE’s safety-first culture using a progressive yet practical approach to project management systems. He was instrumental in transitioning the business to Procore project delivery system, oversaw the development of the industry-leading SMS safety app, and more recently, extended his focus to the Supply Chain and Commercial Risk functions. A member of the Asbestos & Hazmat Removal Contractors Association, Asbestos Education Committee and the OFSC Industry Reference Group, Phillip strongly advocates for asbestos awareness.

Life
Phillip is a Brisbane Broncos supporter, car enthusiast and lover of most outdoor activities. He has two sons, three grandsons and an extended family of pets that seem to arrive and never leave.

Career
Beginning his career in Sydney as a Carpenter, Gareth now has over 20 years’ experience in the building and construction industry. Since joining SHAPE for the second time in 2018, he has fulfilled the roles of Senior Site Manager, Construction Manager and is now QLD’s Operations Manager. Gareth has played a huge part in developing the QLD Team’s culture into the diverse and inclusive team they are today, particularly through championing their Gender Action Plan committee.

Life
A father of two kids, Gareth loves spending time with his family. He has a passion for live music and gigs as well as travelling to new places. So far, India is the favourite place that he’s visited.

Career
Prior to commencing with SHAPE, Laura was employed by WIDAC (Women in Design and Construction) as the Client Relationship Manager, where she created, maintained, and nurtured relationships between the company and external clients. Prior to this, she worked for Virgin Australia in Recruitment/HR and Business Development. Since starting at SHAPE Laura has worked in a Business Support role to assist the Queensland Team in the day-to-day operations as well as support the Leadership team in delivering business strategies and goals.

Life
Laura’s greatest achievement to date is being the proud mother to 4 children. She enjoys keeping active through running and strength training as well as spending time with family and friends. In a previous life Laura was a long haul flight attendant where she developed a keen passion for travel, Laura admits that her favourite destination of all time is holidaying at Burleigh beach with her children.

Career
Tim began his career with SHAPE in 2011 as a Building Cadet in the Sydney office. After working on one of SHAPE’s largest projects, Star Casino Sydney, he accepted a secondment to Brisbane where he has worked on various projects across all sectors including health, education, commercial office and hospitality. After living in London for over 2 years working on one of Europe’s largest Infrastructure projects, Crossrail, Tim returned to the SHAPE Brisbane Office where he is currently in the role of Project Director.

Life
Tim is a proud New South Welshman so has found the past 10 years since moving to Queensland extremely difficult around State of Origin time. Tim’s ideal day involves an early morning swim at the beach, followed by some sport (golf, tennis, cricket) and then a BBQ with family and friends.

Career
Erin has been an integral part of the SHAPE Brisbane team since 2016. Starting as an Office Administrator, she became a Cadet before quickly progressing to Project Director. Erin is a high performer and expertly manages her team to achieve successful outcomes for clients, including The Star, Mosaic Property Group, Suncorp, Anglo American, Brisbane Catholic Education, and Charter Hall. She supports and reviews the management of contracts, resourcing, and finances, as well as the development of our people, to ensure the delivery of projects is on time and within budget. Erin specialises in ECI and D&C delivery models and is an excellent communicator, maintaining her clients' utmost respect and confidence.

She has been recognised with two accolades from the HIA: 'Exception Young Women of the Year Award' and 'Professional Women of the Year'.

Life
Erin loves adventures and is very travel-oriented; she recently spent half a year camping across Australia in a van with her partner and two Italian Greyhounds, Finn & Gigi. Erin is a foodie at heart and loves spending time with her friends and family.

Scott has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, starting out as a carpentry apprentice in 2002. He ran his own construction company for several years before transitioning into Project Management. One of his most exciting jobs to date was building theme parks in Malaysia, during this time Scott developed exceptional project and client management skills. Most recently, Scott joined SHAPE Brisbane in 2022 as Project Director.

Life
Scott is a proud family man with a beautiful wife and two young kids. He loves staying fit, competing in Ironman triathlons, and watching the Brisbane Lions.

With more than a decade of construction industry experience across a variety of projects and a diversity of roles, Michael is a valued asset to the SHAPE team. He always delivers on his promise to our clients, as he is committed to delivering exceptional project outcomes and building strong client relationships. Since joining SHAPE, Michael has been integral to the delivery of some of our hallmark projects and is skilled in architectural and services design, owing to knowledge gained on his impressive portfolio of major projects as well as his extensive study.

Life
Michael enjoys mountain biking, camping, travelling, and spending time with family and friends. He also loves renovating and working on his 1970 Alfa GTV, a passion inherited from his dad's love for Alfa Romeos.

Lorcan has over 25 years in construction, with over a decade in high-end commercial refurbishments for clients such as Thiess, Shell, TMR and Marriott. He excels in complex, tech-rich projects in operational environments and has managed multi-storey refurbishments, new builds, civil infrastructure, and high-rise developments. Lorcan's strong relationships with landlords and stakeholders in Brisbane ensure successful project delivery. His hands-on approach from preconstruction to delivery guarantees optimal outcomes.

Life
Lorcan is a dedicated family man who enjoys renovating his home, staying fit, and travelling. He is an avid lover of whiskey and craft beer, and never misses an opportunity for a BBQ with friends and family.
