SHAPE transforms damaged lab within a live university environment.

The University of Newcastle engaged SHAPE to transform a damaged lab into a PC2 standard compliant learning and safe working environment for all students and staff. The main focus of the project was to remediate the mould-damaged areas on the ceiling and exposed wood through demolition works and installation of a compliant ceiling and new linings.
The upgrade also included the extension of existing services in the ceiling space, new return air mechanical services and grilles, and the installation of a new, lowerered suspension PC2-compliant ceiling.
The SHAPE team successfully managed the project within a live University environment, ensuring a consistent high-level of communication between the University of Newcastle stakeholders and lab tenants, to gain relevant permits and approvals, and a thorough understanding of particular PC2 requirements.
