SHAPE’s meticulous prototyping and quality controls were key to delivering Townsville’s first five-star hotel guestrooms within budget and on time.

Tabcorp sought to transform Jupiters Hotel & Casino into Townsville’s only five-star accommodation. The project involved refurbishing two levels of existing guestrooms and fitting out three additional levels, creating over 3,800 square metres of contemporary luxury accommodation.

As Managing Contractor on a lump sum contract, SHAPE worked closely with DBI Design to balance the aspiration for premium quality interiors with strict budget controls. To ensure both design integrity and cost certainty, SHAPE carefully prototyped fittings and fixtures prior to manufacture. This early validation process helped mitigate risks related to buildability and aesthetics.

Throughout construction, SHAPE implemented a comprehensive defects management process tailored to client expectations. Three detailed client inspections per floor ensured issues were promptly identified and rectified, delivering a flawless finish consistent with five-star hospitality standards.

This flagship refurbishment significantly boosted Townsville’s hospitality offering by introducing the region’s only five-star hotel guest accommodation. The upgraded rooms have attracted discerning travellers, enhancing Townsville’s appeal as a premium tourism and business destination.
