SHAPE has won two Master Builders Association of Western Australia awards for ALS Geochemistry Australian Headquarters and Testing Facility and the Department of Finance’s Parliament Place fitout.
The 2024 Master Builders Commonwealth Bank Excellence in Construction Awards celebrate exceptional craftsmanship, commitment to building excellence, and upholding the highest professional standard. This year’s awards ceremony was held at Crown Perth on Saturday, 20 July 2024.
SHAPE took out the top spot in the Best Industrial Building $10-20 million category for ALS Geochemistry Australian Headquarters and Testing Facility. The state-of-the-art facility was constructed using a comprehensive tilt-up process to achieve cost savings, time efficiency, and reduced waste. Through meticulous planning and execution, the team managed the successful on-site casting and lifting of 72 panels, ranging from 10m to 14m in height and averaging between 20 to 25 tonnes – with the heaviest panel weighing 30.3 tonnes. The final result is a multilevel facility designed to meet diverse operational needs with unique finishes that set it apart.
For its fitout at Parliament Place for the Department of Finance, SHAPE won the Best Building Fit-Out $10-20 million award. The three-floor fitout in a new building at Parliament Place showcases SHAPE’s ability to manage a high-security project and deliver quality results. Out-of-the-box thinking was required to navigate longer than usual lead times for some items, ensure the safety of the team and subcontractors in the summer heat as the base build mechanical works were incomplete, and make sure the lighting in the hearing rooms sat flush with the roof.
