SHAPE Tasmania expands local footprint with leadership appointment and growing project momentum

SHAPE is excited to announce the appointment of Jonathan Rees as Regional Manager – Tasmania, as the team continues to win and deliver a growing portfolio of projects across the state.

Jonathan has nearly 30 years of construction industry experience under his belt and more than two years at SHAPE. Known for his solutions-focused approach, he’s delivered major projects for clients including Marriott International, Queensland Fertility Group and the Department of Health.

In recent months, SHAPE Tasmania has successfully delivered a number of significant projects, including two key projects in Launceston: Albert Hall and Launceston General Hospital. In Hobart’s eastern suburb of Cambridge, the team completed a fitout of modern, inclusive offices with essential upgrades for Department of Health.

Among SHAPE Tasmania’s growing pipeline is Lumina, a new, high-end function centre at The Tasman Hotel in Hobart’s Parliament Square. The project, delivered under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model, will transform a vacant plaza into a premium event venue that complements The Tasman’s luxury offering.

SHAPE has also secured works with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water undertaking fitout works for the Australian Antarctic Division’s head office in Kingston, further strengthening its footprint in the scientific and public sector space.

“I’m proud to step into the Regional Manager role and continue building on the momentum our team has created across Tasmania over the past decade, and more importantly, in the last few years. We’re focused on delivering great work for our clients and creating opportunities for local talent, while being backed by the support and experience of a national business,” said Jonathan.

Further, DLG SHAPE will be delivering a consolidated space for a Commonwealth Government Department in Hobart. The newly refurbished space will be a fit-for-purpose office environment that reflects the Tasmanian Governments commitment to its staff wellbeing, customer service, and operational efficiency.

With 15 employees now on the ground and recent strategic hires across project management and delivery roles, the team is well-positioned to meet the demands of its growing project pipeline. To accommodate this growth, the team is in the final stages of securing a larger office space in Hobart.

They have also been actively engaged with the local community, from regular team blood donations, to volunteering with Variety Children’s Charity Tasmania. Jonathan recently joined Matt’s Marathon Mission, running 45km’s raising awareness and funds for bowel cancer prevention across Tasmania.
