SHAPE Tasmania is proud to announce its latest project in Hobart: Lumina, a purpose-built, state-of-the-art function centre that will expand the premium offerings of The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel by Marriott. Located in the prestigious Parliament Square precinct, Lumina will address the growing demand for sophisticated, high-quality event spaces in Tasmania’s capital.
The project will be delivered in conjunction with JGS Property and The Tasman. SHAPE has been engaged to undertake the construction, and full fitout of Lumina, which will complete Parliament Square by integrating a complementary Function Centre on the eastern terrace and activate the eastern edge of the plaza.
Once complete, Lumina will offer adaptable and flexible event spaces complemented by seamless back-of-house functionality, enabling it to operate both independently and in synergy with the hotel’s restaurant Peppina, and Deco Lounge. In keeping with The Tasman’s commitment to excellence, Lumina will be delivered to the highest quality standards while showcasing Tasmanian materials and craftsmanship wherever possible.
For SHAPE Tasmania, the Lumina project represents a significant milestone.
Construction will be carefully managed to ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding Parliament Square precinct, with works integrated alongside existing hotel operations.
“We’re incredibly proud to be delivering such an iconic and transformative space in the heart of Hobart,” said Jonathan Rees, Regional Manager - TAS at SHAPE. “Lumina not only enhances The Tasman’s world-class offering but also represents an exciting expansion of SHAPE Tasmania’s portfolio into high-end hospitality projects. It’s a privilege to be part of a development that celebrates the best of Tasmanian design, innovation, and experience.”
