SHAPE Newcastle 2026 Charity Bowls Day raises over $15,000 for Talk2meBro

The SHAPE Newcastle team recently hosted their inaugural Subcontractor Charity Bowls Day at Merewether Bowling Club, raising more than $15,000 for Talk2meBro.

The event brought together SHAPE team members, subcontractors and industry partners for a relaxed afternoon of friendly competition, connection and fundraising in support of a cause closely linked to the construction industry.

Founded in Newcastle, Talk2meBro is an organisation dedicated to reducing suicide to zero in Australia by raising awareness around mental health and supporting men to speak openly and seek help. The charity has strong ties to the construction sector, making it a particularly meaningful organisation for SHAPE and project partners to support.

Through the generous contributions of the subcontractors and suppliers, along with some enthusiastic participation in the day’s activities and the popular meat raffle, the event raised more than $15,000 for Talk2meBro.

Reflecting on the day, Linden Denholm, Regional Manager at SHAPE Newcastle, said, “It was fantastic to see so many of our subcontractors and industry partners come together for a great afternoon of bowls while supporting such an important cause. Talk2meBro does incredible work in our community, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping raise awareness and funds for the organisation.”

Congratulations also to Jeffkins Interior Lining & Fitout, who took out first place in the highly contested competition.

SHAPE extends a sincere thank you to the many subcontractors and suppliers who supported the day and helped make the event such a success.

Supporting subcontractors, suppliers and charity partners included:

Jeffkins Interior Lining & Fitout, RAD Electric Co,  AJ McDonnell Electrical, ALD Expert Demo, BGB Tiling, CEIL Group, Coastal Commercial Flooring, Creation Plumbing , Design and Made, Hergsweld, Husky Demolition, Insight Roofing,  JR Prime, MB Concreting, Pro Plumb, PSB Mechanical Services Ltd, X‑clusive Group and MTM Structural Steel.

Following the success of the inaugural event, the SHAPE Newcastle team looks forward to building on the momentum and continuing the Charity Bowls Day in the years ahead.
