SHAPE Canberra swapped steel caps for bowling shoes in its first-ever SHAPE Charity Bowling Day, a spirited event that raised an incredible $25,000 for Karinya House, a not-for-profit organisation providing holistic support for women in Canberra who are pregnant or parenting a newborn and facing crisis, offering 24/7 care, accommodation, outreach, and emotional support.
Held at Timezone & Zone Bowling Belconnen, the day brought together over 75 participants, including the SHAPE team and 60 guests from 18 subcontractor and client companies, for an afternoon of friendly competition, great food, and an even greater cause.
The event also included team and individual bowling prizes, along with a charity auction and raffle packed with generously donated items, all contributing to the fundraising effort.
This special day was made possible thanks to the incredible support of our industry partners, including:
360 Degree Fire, 4Site, ACT Interiors, Bonafide Construction, Canberra Painting Services, Contemporary Plumbing, Inline Floors, Inside Out Demolition, J2 Electrical and Data, Kanga, Lloyds Construction, Mana Civil, Schiavello, Seven5 Constructions, Stowe, Stylecraft, Absolute Approvals, and ST3P.
“It was great to see so many of our project partners roll up and get behind such an important local charity,” said Tom Sparkes, General Manager - ACT at SHAPE. “Supporting women and children through the vital work Karinya House does for our community is something we’re proud to get behind as a team.”
We also received fantastic raffle donations from:
Kanga, Bunnings Gungahlin, Burgtec, Lloyds Construction, the Canberra Raiders, Zenith Interiors, and the SHAPE team.
Raffle prizes ranged from footy jerseys and appliances to office furniture and even an iPad, all packed into mystery boxes that kept the crowd buzzing.
