SHAPE has launched its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2025–2027, setting out practical steps to deepen respect, strengthen relationships, and expand opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses.
SHAPE’s third RAP continues its commitment to reconciliation through clear, measurable actions, from increasing procurement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses to creating more culturally safe employment pathways, and promoting cultural learning across teams nationwide.
“Reconciliation is a long-term commitment and one we see as essential to creating a fair and inclusive construction industry,” said Peter Marix-Evans, CEO of SHAPE Australia.
“This RAP reflects the lessons we’ve learned and focuses on initiatives that deliver meaningful, lasting change.”
The Innovate RAP also includes commitments that go beyond government requirements – such as minimum engagement targets with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses on projects over $30 million.
Key initiatives include:
“We have come to recognise that building respectful and trusted relationships takes time, consistency, and a willingness to listen and evolve. This RAP strengthens our internal frameworks to ensure those relationships are nurtured long term,” said Peter.
A key focus of the Innovate RAP is moving from transactional engagement to transformational relationships.
Through sustained engagement, consistent accountability, and strong governance structures, SHAPE will ensure that reconciliation efforts are embedded across its business.
