Coordinated delivery of two bespoke workspaces for Adairs Retail Group

SHAPE were engaged to deliver the new head office fitout for Adairs Retail Group, spanning two levels of the newly constructed One Middle Road tower at Chadstone. The move marked a shift from a dispersed suburban setup to a purpose-built, collaborative workspace in one of Melbourne’s premier commercial precincts. The fitout includes a central breakout space with a high-end kitchen, feature stone finishes and a concealed butler’s pantry. A striking internal stair connects the two levels which include open-plan work areas, private offices and bespoke joinery including booths, tiered seating and client-designed tables with integrated storage.

In addition to the main office, SHAPE also delivered Adairs’ nearby creative studio for their in-house design and photography teams. The space features a cyclorama wall, a purpose-built lighting rig and a fully engineered steel mezzanine for additional storage. Mobile workstations with retractable ceiling power and custom glass screens allow for flexible reconfiguration.

Delivering both spaces within a live construction environment required careful coordination, particularly around early access and commissioning. Complex structural elements, including the mezzanine and goods hoist, were managed through close collaboration with consultants and stakeholders. The result is a vibrant, functional workspace that supports Adairs’ evolving business needs.
