Client: Cardinia Shire Council
Delivery Model: Design & Construction
Location: Koo Wee Rup, VIC
Duration: 52 Weeks
Project Size: 540 m2
In the rapidly expanding Shire of Cardinia, the redevelopment of the Koo Wee Rup Bowling Club involved demolishing the existing facility and constructing a state-of-the-art bowling club pavilion, along with a formalised car park and access pathways. To meet strict project timelines, a modular construction approach was selected, replacing the original conventional design.
The new 540sqm pavilion was thoughtfully designed with modern facilities, including two meeting rooms, a club lounge, accessible toilets, male and female change rooms, first aid, bar and servery, and commercial kitchen with dry storage and two cool rooms. It also boasts a spacious bistro area with a 12-meter bi-fold door, club office, communications room, and large deck overlooking the bowling greens.
Given the swampy ground conditions and the site’s location within a flood zone, the building was elevated 1.6m above ground level to comply with Melbourne Water regulations.
The project also incorporated significant accessibility and infrastructure upgrades, including two DDA-compliant switchback ramps, a 20-space car park with three DDA-compliant bays, and a safe access path to the pavilion.
Despite the complexities, the project was successfully completed to the highest standards, delivering a modern, functional, and accessible facility that has been embraced by the local community.
