Due to our strong working relationship with the client, SHAPE was once again trusted to collaborate with WeWork and Architectus to bring to life their latest co-working space at 320 Pitt Street, Sydney. Co-ordinating teams across three different phases, this project required the demolition of an existing office design and base building service area, followed by the fitout and commissioning of premium office space on the ground floor and from levels 2 to 11. To maintain traction, this project was divided into three different phases for staged delivery, each consisting of 17 weeks.
Due to the critical timeline, phase one of the project was accelerated on a fast-paced programme to meet the client’s deadline. As phase one progressed, it was important to ensure all involved were across all critical project information. As access to the site was restricted due to COVID-19 regulations and lockdowns, weekly updates were provided to all stakeholders – including interstate consultants, via 360-degree cameras installed to monitor site progress.
Also, due to the increased challenges of COVID-19, site safety was of the utmost concern to protect all employees and maintain the programme’s pace for the client. So trade progress on site was not affected, increased on-site cleaning and social distancing measures were quickly and successfully actioned to maintain a safe and COVID-19 compliant site.
Despite these added challenges, the project was finished under budget, which was a huge win for the team and the client. Our project team says their biggest project highlights were installing an event space and main management floor on level 2 and a games room on level 6. These fun and collaborate areas create a workplace of collegiality and connection for the WeWork team and have also proved a major drawcard for the tenants.
We are proud to have delivered another fresh new space for WeWork, spread across 11 floors. The fitout arrangements were split between accommodating single-floor tenant members, dual floors and multi-floor tenancies. We are sure that these spaces will help inspire visions of a brighter future to add to WeWork’s already impressive collection of stylish co-working spaces.
