SHAPE were engaged by RMIT for the refurbishment project involving upgrades to 50 learning and teaching spaces across three campuses: City, Bundoora, and Brunswick. The scope comprised of the removal of existing finishes and equipment, including AV systems and finishes, followed by the installation of new flooring, AV technology, ceiling finishes, lighting, doors, wall finishes, and furniture, including sit-to-stand desks.
A key focus of the project was to enhance accessibility and functionality for both students and staff. This included providing sit-to-stand desks for teaching staff and students, ensuring accessible and comfortable learning environments. The design and installation of the AV cabinets and workstations involved prototyping and close stakeholder engagement to confirm that specifications and performance standards were met.
Sustainability was integral to the refurbishment, with a strong emphasis on recycling demolition waste and reusing furniture wherever possible to minimise environmental impact and meet the recycling target.
Throughout the project, SHAPE demonstrated a collaborative and supportive approach ensuring the upgraded spaces met RMIT’s goals for improved learning environments and sustainability.
