SHAPE is currently delivering the transformation of the iconic Hotel Allen in Townsville’s coastal suburb of North Ward, in partnership with valued client Australian Venue Co.

Originally built in 1942, the two-storey landmark occupies a prominent 6,186sqm corner site and has long been a favourite gathering place for locals and visitors alike. The hotel features a sports bar, beer garden, bistro, gaming room, alfresco dining, 53 motel rooms, a swimming pool, drive-through bottle shop, and car parking.

The current stage focuses on transforming the ground floor licensed venue into a vibrant turnkey hospitality destination while preserving the hotel’s heritage and character. The scope includes extensive aesthetic upgrades across key public areas as well as essential building services upgrades, such as a new main switchboard, grease trap, mechanical plant, and improved fire services.

SHAPE is working closely with Australian Venue Co to ensure the refurbishment is delivered efficiently and to the highest standard, with careful coordination alongside the ongoing guest room construction.

Once complete, the revitalised Hotel Allen will offer an enhanced experience for guests and the local community, breathing new life into one of Townsville’s most recognisable hospitality venues while honouring its legacy as a beloved community icon.
