Australia Post required a new loading dock and front end sorting area to make their Sydney Gateway Facility more streamlined.
In order to do this, SHAPE converted the redundant truck maintenance workshop into a sorting area, and constructed a new 3500sqm portal frame warehouse to operate the loading dock area where all parcels are delivered to the facility. This included a sunken dock accommodating 3 trucks and 2 on ground loading docks.
SHAPE constructed a new 2000sqm hardstand beyond the portal structure that transferred the new warehouse levels to the existing hardstand levels beyond SHAPE’s construction scope which included a major stormwater upgrade.
SHAPE’s ongoing relationship with Australia Post facilitated in the extensive knowledge of the warehouse facility due to SHAPE’s engagement in the completion of the first stage of works. SHAPE was engaged as a buildability consultant during the design phase and actively assisted in the design development.
