SHAPE was engaged by Anglo American to complete a live refurbishment to upgrade their office at 201 Charlotte Street, Brisbane.

Phase 1 of the project included three floors of open workstations, meeting rooms and general kitchen/amenities.

After the successful delivery of Phase 1, the team was awarded Phase 2 (Levels 5 & 9-13) which required careful coordination across 6 levels of live functional office space. Works included major demolition across all levels, new and re-configured Mechanical, Electrical, Fire and Hydraulic components, new meeting rooms, offices, kitchens, workstations, ceilings, floors and joinery throughout.

The end result was a vast improvement to each space’s look, feel and functionality, consistent with the previous works SHAPE completed in other levels of the building. One of the Key Client Values was ensuring minimal disruption to the Anglo American staff and allowing them to operate as close to business as usual during construction. SHAPE worked closely with the client to cultivate a very close relationship to ensure this was managed to their satisfaction.

With this project commencing during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was imperative to keep the stakeholders, subcontractors and staff safe. Compulsory temperature checks and hand sanitiser stations were implemented to ensure guidelines were met in regards to both government requirements and the SHAPE COVID-19 action plan.

SHAPE actively engaged with subcontractors through frequent coordination meetings to ensure Anglo American’s vision was reached.
