The SHAPE VIC team hit the field running, for their highly anticipated 2025 annual Charity Soccer Day on Friday, 14 November at the Melbourne Sports Centres.
The event drew over 270 attendees, including SHAPE employees, subcontractors and volunteers, for a fun filled day of friendly competition and fundraising for four charities. This year’s event raised $180,000 in support of four incredible organisations, Djirra, Lighthouse Foundation, Brotherhood of St. Laurence: Home, and Youth Projects Ltd .
From the first kick-off the competition stayed fierce, keeping crowds entertained all day. After a hard-fought battle in the group stages, the Scope Cleaning and Maintenance team claimed the championship title, with Custom Clad scoring the place as worthy runner-up.
Along the sidelines, spectators and guests enjoyed watching the subbie penalty shoot-out, a silent auction and raffle, with prizes generously donated by GlobeWest, Melbourne Storm, National Basketball League, RedZed, Feathertop Winery, Bunnings, Natio, Adriatic Furniture, Rone, Caterina’s Cucina e Bar, Styletread, Beefeater Gin, T-House, Chocmama, Rustica, COS, In Full Bloom, My Goodness Pizza, Jack & Jill Boxes, Ultra Football, Itinerant Spirits, Winnings/Appliances Online, PGA Tour, Medallion Club and GPT. Their support, along with the efforts of all participants and volunteers, contributed massively to the success of the day.
The funds raised will directly support programs that create safer homes, stronger communities and brighter futures. The Brotherhood of St. Laurence: Home helps break the cycle of disadvantage, alleviating poverty through employment and education initiatives; Lighthouse Foundation provides vital support for young people providing welcoming and nurturing spaces for those in need. Additionally, Youth Projects Ltd provide front line support to open up pathways out of poverty and homelessness and and Djirra empowers Aboriginal women and children through culturally grounded support.
Reminiscing on the day Micheal Buddee, General Manager at SHAPE VIC, said “This day is a reminder of the impact we can make when collaboration goes beyond the project site. The support from our teams, subcontractors, sponsors and prize donors helped us raise significant funds for organisations doing critical work in our community. It’s something we can all be proud of.”
SHAPE would like to extend a massive thanks to the generous subcontractors and suppliers who sponsored the event and donated.
