SHAPE Darwin has raised $53,000 for suicide awareness and prevention organisation MATES in Construction in its second Charity Lawn Bowls Event.
The Charity Lawn Bowls Event was held at the Darwin Bowls Club on Friday, 14 June 2024, with 130 attendees, including SHAPE staff, and sponsoring businesses, subcontractors, and suppliers. The aim of the event was to raise money for MATES who SHAPE has supported since 2016.
The mission of MATES is to improve the mental health and well-being of workers and reduce suicide. The organisation provides suicide prevention through community development programs on sites, and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 help line. In support of its mission over the years, SHAPE has donated over $500,000 to the organisation.
After the lawn bowls competition concluded, an auction and raffle was held with a variety of incredible prizes, including a Paspaley Kimberley Bracelet, Scenic Helicopter Flight, Family Pass to Top End Safari Camp, Commercial Samsung TV, YKnot Fishing Charter Vouchers, RYOBI Tool Kit, Sunbeam Café Series Duo Espresso Machine and Safestyles Goodie Pack.
