This industry-supporting not-for-profit organisation were relocating their operations from their previous office in East Melbourne into a newly purchased 5.5 floor office building at 1 Bowen Crescent that required a full fitout and building upgrade.

SHAPE was engaged to provide buildability advice and a cost plan during the ECI / D&C stage, which was then converted into a fixed lump sum. We completed cost planning at each stage of the design process to ensure budget certainty for the client.

The project was divided into two separable portions. At first, SHAPE completed the beautifully designed fitout on 4,5 floors. This included seminar/conference facilities, kitchenettes & breakout spaces, a reception area and the main communications room.

The second project stage comprised of a full mechanical services system upgrade to the whole building; SHAPE replaced 2 existing lifts with the client staff remaining on the premises. The continual operation of one lift during the project was critical to the client’s operations. The rooftop lift extension included the creation of a new lift lobby structure to bring one lift up to level 6 which meant major rooftop demolition & structural works that were protected by an encapsulated scaffold over the entire works area during the project.

The client now has a modern and light office facility with dedicated areas for hosting functions, meetings, exams, training, etc. The rooftop internal and external function space with a newly constructed lift access is a real showpiece of the whole building that the client regularly uses to host events.
