SHAPE Melbourne wins Master Builders Award for BHP Office Fitout

The 2023 Master Builders Victoria Construction Awards celebrates the best and brightest in Victoria’s building and construction industry.

This year’s awards ceremony was held at Melbourne at the Palladium at Crown on Friday, August 11, 2023.

SHAPE Melbourne won the Excellence in Fitout over $10M – Excellence in Construction Awards for the BHP Melbourne Office Consolidation project.

SHAPE engaged with BHP to deliver their Melbourne Office Consolidation at 171 Collins Street under a Construction Management agreement. The project aimed to better accommodate the reduced office requirements of their staff due to changes in work patterns and maximise the office design in line with their Future Ways of Working principles. This project was completed across two stages. The first stage involved the refurbishment of their Business Centre on the ground floor and mezzanine level, which included meeting rooms, a reheat kitchen, an open cafe area and a flexible events space for external meetings.

Also completed during stage one were the enabling works on Levels 14 and 15, two floors that BHP was going to hand back to the building management. These works allowed for a temporary relocation of the Executive Leadership Team and broader workforce in preparation for stage two of the project. The second stage involved condensing BHP’s occupied space from five floors into two and a half floors – creating one executive level and one and a half levels of general workspace. This included splitting a tenancy, and the base building works associated with the split, and the overall fitout of the levels.

Speaking on the win, Adam Head, General Manager, SHAPE Melbourne, said:

“This achievement speaks volumes about the hard work, unwavering commitment, and exceptional skills every team member involved demonstrated. It stands as an impressive accomplishment that reflects our persistent dedication to upholding excellence within our work.

Instances like these serve as a poignant reminder of our impact on the industry and our clients, leaving a lasting imprint. This recognition shines a spotlight on the remarkable talents of the team and reinforces our positions as leaders in our industry.”
