Client: Australian Taxation Office
Consultants: SQC Architecture, WSP (Services), GHD (SCEC)
Delivery Model: Lump Sum
Location: Multiple capital city offices, nationally
SHAPE was engaged by the Australian Taxation Office to construct a series of SCEC Zone 4 secure IT network rooms across multiple capital city offices, delivered simultaneously as a single nationally coordinated programme. The rooms house classified communications infrastructure and rack-mounted network equipment requiring Defence-grade physical security certification, with zero tolerance for non-compliance at any hold point. Broadspectrum managed the programme on behalf of the ATO.
Working within live, occupied government tenancies, SHAPE delivered the full scope of each secure infrastructure room, including:
Every room was subject to a rigorous series of SCEC inspection hold points, coordinated nationally with GHD as the security certifier. These covered framing, steel sheeting, clean conduit installation, security grilles, communications cabinets, doors, access control, and final certification. Progress was documented through a measured photographic evidence programme, including 360-degree walkthroughs issued at the close of every shift, giving all stakeholders full visibility of compliance status throughout construction.
All rooms achieved SCEC Zone 4 certification across every location, on programme. The project reflects SHAPE’s capability to deliver complex, mission-critical IT infrastructure within live environments at national scale, where security integrity and sequencing discipline are as important as the build itself.
