Welcome to Country marks opening of DLG SHAPE PACC project, delivered for Adecco for ADF Careers

A Welcome to Country was held to mark the opening of DLG SHAPE’s Portable ADF Careers Centre (PACC) project, delivered for Adecco for Australian Defence Force (ADF) Careers.

The PACC was opened on Tuesday, 27 August 2024, with a Welcome to Country led by Wadawarrung Traditional Owner Corrina Eccles. DLG SHAPE staff, partners and key figures in Defence attended the ceremony, which represents an important milestone in Reconciliation, paying respect to the traditional owners of the land while providing consent for the event to take place.

The aim of the PACC is to provide a base to assist in the recruitment of new candidates over an extended period, as opposed to the shorter timeframe allocated by the MACC. While the MACC is a fully equipped bus which acts as a temporary office space for recruitment, the PACC will be set up in regional towns across Australia, allowing residents to enquire about joining the defence force in a three-month timeframe.

The DLG SHAPE team utilised modular construction methods to facilitate the flexible movement of the PACC across different locations. The portable build is solely comprised of two modules, ensuring a convenient and streamlined set up with minimal onsite work.

Through a Design and Construct plan, the project was subdivided into two phases with an initial design and procurement phase, followed by the construction of two modules over a 4-week period. The early concept design was completed by Nguluway DesignInc, the Indigenous portion of DesignInc, and then adapted by the inhouse team at DLG SHAPE.

The full construction process took place in SHAPE’s manufacturing facility in Adelaide, with no on-site work required. Each module is a high-spec, flexible and bespoke space, tailored to the client’s requirements of periodic relocation and repurposing.

…the PACC will be set up in regional towns across Australia, allowing residents to enquire about joining the defence force in a three-month timeframe.

Michael Manikas, General Manager – DLG SHAPE, said, “This was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the opening of DLG SHAPE’s second project for Adecco. The team is proud to have produced the highly flexible and bespoke PACC which will assist ADF Careers in their recruitment process.”

The PACC will provide essential data for ADF careers, enabling them to establish permanent offices in regional towns with high recruitment levels. The DLG SHAPE team also worked closely with Nguluway DesignInc in the early design phase of the project and are honoured to have worked with the Indigenous organisation for a second time.”
