Chadstone Place project targeting Australia’s first ILFI Zero Carbon Certification

SHAPE is thrilled to announce that they have been engaged to complete the major refurbishment of Chadstone Place at Chadstone – The Fashion Capital for their valued tenant Officeworks, who is relocating its Melbourne support office here in the new year.

The refurbishment includes 9,100m2 (GFA) of existing office and the construction of an additional 960m2 (GFA) link to adjacent Car Park D.

A case study in sustainability, the project is pursuing 5 Star Green Star, 5.5 Star Base Building NABERS, and is anticipated to be the first certified International Living Future Institute (ILFI) Zero Carbon certified building in Australia. This requires the installation of 1,900m2 of solar panels to adjacent Car Park D to serve the development.

The intent of the ILFI Zero Carbon Certification program is to bring the vision of a fully decarbonised built environment into reality by evaluating, reducing, and offsetting both operational and embodied carbon impacts of buildings.

Commercial Manager at SHAPE Melbourne, Michael Buddee, says: “It’s always exciting to work on innovative projects, and better yet when that innovation is in sustainability. Chadstone Place puts the planet first and we’re very proud to be a part of it.”
